In the morning around 08:00 am, the deputed guide will pick you up from your convenient place and immediately drive you to the old part of the city. Your visit will include the places as per your interest from the following; – Sadarghat (Waterfront), Lalbagh Fort, Star Mosque, Armenian Church, Dhakeshwari Temple, etc. Then you will be offered a quick lunch at a fast food restaurant or Bangladeshi food in a local restaurant.
After lunch, your guide will take you to Sonargaon (means golden city), 27km to the east which was the capital of Bengal from the 13th to early 17th century during the Chandra and Deva dynasty. The city of Panam was a flourished city in those days. In 1611the Sultanate collapsed under the pressure from the Mughal expansion and the Mughals considered the location too exposed to the Portuguese and the Mogh pirates and thus established Dhaka as their capital. You can also visit the folklore museum at Sonargaon. You will back to the hotel late night for overstay.
In the morning at 0800 hrs, pick up from your hotel and drive to Comilla (114km) to explore Mainamoti, Buddhist archaeological ruins dating back to 8th-12th century. Lunch at the cafeteria of BARD or at a local restaurant. After lunch visit “ War Cemetery”, where you can see the graveyard of the soldiers who died in the Burma front during World War-II. On way back, visit Sonargaon, the old capital of Bengal. Back to Dhaka in the evening around 18:00 hours.
A site museum just beyond Salban Vihara houses the excavated finds and it is open from 10 am to 5 pm daily from Sunday-Thursday and Friday from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm and during October to March, 10:30 am to 5:30 pm from Sunday to Thursday and Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm during April to September. It is closed on Saturdays.
