Enjoy a snapshot experience of Sri Lanka from wildlife safaris to visiting revered temples as well as walking in tea carpeted hills. Your journey features one night in the capital Colombo, two nights exploring the cultural triangle, a night each in the cool hills of Kandy and then Nuwara Eliya, followed by a night in the jungles of Yala, culminating at Galle’s Fort for a night- altogether an exciting seven nights.
At the airport, you will receive by our representative and will take you to the capital city of Colombo. Once at the comforts of your hotel, relax and recover from any jet lag. If you have spare time, your chauffeur guide will introduce you to some of Colombo’s curious sites such as the vibrant markets of pettah or to alternatively indulge in some shopping.
Set off from coastal Colombo to experience the inland delights of Sri Lanka. To begin, drop by the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, which houses the abandoned or wounded elephants. Here you can watch them being fed and bathed. After lunch, our sightseeing tours of Sri Lanka continue to the town of Sigiriya, within the country’s rich cultural triangle. In the evening, mount the rock fortress of Sigiriya - A 5th Century “Fortress In The Sky”.
Learn about one of the better kept ruins of ancient Ceylon - The UNESCO World Heritage city of Polonnaruwa, which was the medieval capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th - 13th Century A.D. On your return, take an adventurous Jeep Safari with the company of an expert naturalist guide to the Minneriya or neighbouring kavdullah national park, a vast sanctuary home to about 250 wild elephants, wild buffaloes, spotted deer, sloth bear and more.
Today you will arrive in spiritual Kandy, surrounded by greenery and the great Mahaweli River. Kandy is also well known as the center of Buddhism. At your convenience, become acquainted with the city of Kandy, pay your respects to the temple of the Tooth Relic and in the late evening, view a cultural dance performance.
Welcome to Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka’s tea growing center and en route visit a tea factory. During the drive relish the endless views of tea carpeted valleys and the bright flash of female “Tea Pluckers” in their Pimento, Fuchsia And Cerise Saris. Enjoy a guided stroll of Nuwara Eliyatown, pass the 18-hole golf course, the colonial members only hill club and english styled country homes.
From the hills of Nuwara Eliya descend to the jungles of Yala. One of the foremost places to visit in Sri Lanka, the Yala national park is famous for the elusive leopard and has one of the highest densities of leopards in the world. The sloth bear and asian elephant that are also part of Sri Lanka’s big five can be spotted. With some good luck, you will witness all these creatures and moreover an evening Jeep Safari accompanied by a naturalist guide.
En route to galle witness a curious feature - the stilt fishermen of weligama. Once in Galle, enjoy a leisurely walk through the cobbled stone pathways of the fort - A Massive Dutch Fort, which also is A UNESCO World Heritage Site.
As all good things must come to an end, your chauffeur guide will comfortably take you back to the international airport for a safe return journey.
