About this tour

India is a dynamic and colorful nation with incredible vistas, vivid hues, a constant flurry of activities and sounds, and delicious food. Adventure, history, and cultural insights may all be found there.

Visitors may fully experience all of these things when touring three of India’s most popular cities in the country’s northwest by traveling via the Golden Triangle.

The three cities of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, which are situated 200 kilometers apart and form a triangle, are what gives the Golden Triangle its name.

The good news for vacationers is that the cities that make up the golden triangle are all easily accessible by decent roads and railroads. Even while the Golden Triangle in India is well linked, organizing a self-guided tour is not particularly simple.

We’ve put together a 10-day Golden Triangle itinerary with the best activities, destinations, and attractions on the Indian Golden Triangle to help with your planning.

Itinerary

Upon arrival in Delhi, you are welcomed and driven to your accommodation.

Spend the morning at leisure before embarking on a tour of New Delhi to see its most important landmarks. Visit Humayun's Tomb, a colossal dynasty mausoleum from the 16th century that is regarded as the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent and is crowned by a bulbous dome. The magnificent Taj Mahal was influenced by Humayun's Tomb, a magnificent example of Mughal architecture. Stand in front of the Qutub Minar, an Islamic tower dating from the 13th century that towers 238 feet over the Quwwatul-Islam Masjid, one of India's original mosques. You can also make out the tall stone arch of India Gate, the ceremonial Rajpath, which is bordered by ponds, and the copper-domed Rashtrapati Bhawan, which serves as the president of India's official home.

Focus on the vibrant Old Delhi that you explored this morning. You take a thrilling rickshaw ride through the intoxicating bustle of Chandni Chowk shopping mart. Additionally, you pass through the enormous Red Fort, so named because to its red sandstone walls. The enormous fort was erected by Shah Jahan, who also constructed the Taj Mahal, and which ultimately contributed to his downfall when his own son imprisoned him here. Travel to Raj Ghat, where a platform made of black marble symbolizes the location of Mahatma Gandhi's cremation after his 1948 assassination. You may enjoy the remainder of your free time.

Travel by land for around three hours to Agra, where you may check into your accommodation. The enormous Agra Fort is the first thing you will see when touring Agra. It was first inhabited by the Lodi Sultans in the 14th century, but Mughal Emperor Akbar subsequently constructed it and turned it into a stunning fort palace that was lavishly decorated with marble and mosaic. Visit the unrivaled Taj Mahal this evening at sunset to witness the setting sun wash it in a warm orange glow, Agra's finest treasure.

Visit the Taj Mahal early in the day to observe how the morning sun gives its marble face a warm hue. After breakfast, head back to your accommodation and continue by land to Bharatpur, stopping along the way to see the royal ghost town of India, Fatehpur Sikri, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Formerly Akbar's capital, it now exists as an abandoned 16th-century city with palaces, mosques, tombs, and courts as well as secret tunnels. After lunch, take a train to Bharatpur, where you may proceed to your lodgings after boarding an express train to Ranthambore National Park.

Set off for a morning game drive through Ranthambore National Park after breakfast. The park, which formerly served as the hunting grounds for the royal Maharaja, is now a haven for tigers that are under protection. Prior to another game drive in the twilight of the day, have some relaxation time.

Enjoy one last game drive in the park this morning, early. After a leisurely morning, travel by land to Jaipur, stopping along the way for lunch at a small eatery and having the chance to ride a camel cart through the nearby hamlet. Visit Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, and check into your hotel.

Visit Albert Hall this morning to see exhibits that depict Rajasthani rural life via costumes, pottery, woodwork, and brassware. Albert Hall is now the Central Museum. Continue to the Anokhi Museum, which is devoted to the antiquity of block and hand printing. It is housed in a haveli (a townhouse from the Mughal era) that has been completely restored. View Maota Lake from the magnificent and enormous Amber Fort, built in the Mughal architecture. This intricately designed UNESCO World Heritage Site, constructed from red sandstone and marble, previously served as the state of Jaipur's capital. With exquisitely carved temples, elaborate halls, and strong exteriors that appear to emerge from the rocky hills, it is regarded as one of the outstanding hilltop forts in India. After lunch, you may decide whether to spend some time on your own exploring the city or go to a vibrant local market with your guide.

Set out on a morning sightseeing tour of Jaipur's Old City after breakfast (Pink City). Check out the walled City Palace, which combines Rajput and Mughal architecture and has courts and gardens. Visit the observatory next door, the Jantar Mantar, which features intriguing artifacts from the 18th century, such as the Dhruva Yantra, which determines the positions of the North Star and zodiacal signs. Visit the pink sandstone Hawa Mahal, often known as the Palace of the Winds, before you leave. This five-story palace, which is the most well-known structure in Jaipur, was erected in 1799 by Sawai Pratap Singh for the female members of his royal harem. Transfer to the airport and travel to Delhi in the afternoon. Once there, check into your hotel.

After breakfast, depart for the airport and board your international flight home.

some of India’s greatest wonders

The tour of the Golden Triangle sites itself was good and the guides were excellent and it was a great introduction to some of India’s greatest wonders. All administration was completed quickly and very efficiently. But it would have been helpful and much appreciated if we had had a detailed itinerary before we started, including potential liabilities. We only received a summary itinerary which did not include things such as the visit to the elephant establishment in Jaipur. This was expensive and we would have preferred to have been aware of it before hand. We would rather not have invested in a project which keeps elephants in captivity but it’s very difficult to say no when you’re there in person & have been given a personal introduction. Further it would have been helpful to know in advance in order to dress appropriately I.e. in something which one didn’t mind getting covered in elephant spittle. One further point we felt that as the tour was entitled as a Golden Triangle and Leopard safari that the cost of the leopard safari should have been included. Though the safari was excellent and we saw a leopard, we would rather have paid more upfront than been asked for then cost of the safari before completing it. Our summary itinerary only mentioned the tour’s inclusions & you had to search to website for the exclusions. If something appears in the title of a tour it really should be included in the cost.
